Hey Kate, tell us a bit about yourself, your background, your brief life story and career so far? When I was a kid, I moved around a lot due to my parent’s work. I was bullied because I’m mixed, so I think I was an introverted kid. I was not confident even when I was modeling at that time. But now, I’m very confident and busting my ass for modeling while studying economics at my college.

Do you have any nicknames, what do your friends call you? I just go by Kate.

What’s the best thing about your hometown and why? I’m from Sado Island in Japan. It’s a small island but I love it because it has very fresh air, clean water, and tasty seafood. Most importantly, my dearest grandma is living there.

Tell us about this shoot, where, when, and what you enjoyed about it? We had this shoot in Hakone which is a very famous hot springs town. It was really fun to work with a team that’s known each other for a while. The air was fresh and the natural light was beautiful. I wish we had time for bathing in the hot springs though… lol.

How did you get into modeling? I’ve been modeling since when I was 3 years old. I was scouted for a kid’s clothing brand model.

What’s been your career highlight so far? I’d been working for Japanese fashion magazines and walking some runways since when I was 3 years old. But I’ve just started my career as a bikini model this year. So working for Playboy is going to be my career highlight as a bikini model so far.

What’s the best thing about having Instagram as a tool? It’s easy to connect and communicate with people from all over the world. If there’s no Instagram, probably I wouldn’t have had the chance to work with Playboy. Please follow my Instagram @katemorinaga.

How do you usually deal with negative criticism from followers? So far I didn’t receive it that much though, I just keep pursuing whatever I like and I don’t think I’ll ever care about it.

What are the best and worst things about being a model? I can wear beautiful clothes and makeup and I can meet amazing people through this work. I keep myself motivated to stay in shape which is sometimes difficult but it’s totally worthy.

Do you have any guilty pleasures like food or bad comedies? Anime… Sometimes I just spend the whole day watching it even if I have so many things to do…

Favorite movie quote? It’s not a movie but anime called “Slam Dunk”, “If you give up now, the game will be over.” That’s my favorite one.

Favorite travel destination? California was fun, it’s definitely one of my favorites. I like somewhere warm and chill.

What’s the first thing you think about when you hear the word ‘Playboy’? It’s one of the most famous magazines in the world and there are the hottest women in it.

What would you say is a common misconception people have about you? I’m very down to earth. I like to make plans and carry them out. Sometimes I get misconceptions from my looks.

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be and why? I’ve been to many countries but I think Japan is the best. It’s very clean.

What’s the best way for a man to win his way to your heart? Faithfulness. I’d like him if he’s faithful and a gentleman.

What’s one thing you wish guys understood about women? Women love to be noticed. Even if it’s slight changes like new nails or a new hairstyle. That makes us feel you actually care about us.

What’s one feature you absolutely love in a man? I like a guy who has a toned body.

If you took Playboy on a date, where would we go and why? Something simple, go to eat at a restaurant or go to watch a movie. It’d be great if we can spend time together and share values.
